NFL Stadium Trips: A First-Timer's Guide to Game-Day Travel

Last updated November 2026 · Fixtures and counts pulled from this site's live schedules on November 4, 2026

An NFL trip is a scarcity trip: each team plays only eight or nine home games a year, one game a week, and every home date is the biggest event in town that weekend. There are 32 teams and 30 stadiums in our guides — here's how to pick your stadium, pick your date, and plan a first NFL trip around both.

Why an NFL trip is different from every other league

Baseball gives you 81 home dates to choose from; the NBA and NHL give you 41. The NFL gives you a handful. That scarcity changes the planning in three ways:

The stadiums to build a first trip around

Lambeau Field (Packers, Green Bay). The pilgrimage of the league — a stadium in a residential neighborhood, owned by the fans' team in the NFL's smallest market. Our venue guide's first piece of advice is unglamorous and true: sort parking before game day, because stadium lots are largely held by season pass holders and the neighborhood parking plan is the whole trip. The Titletown district next door is the pregame.

Arrowhead Stadium (Chiefs, Kansas City). The tailgate capital: a sea of cars and grills at the Truman Sports Complex. The practical notes matter here — buy the parking pass before you leave home and download tickets and passes to your phone wallet, because there is no cash fallback at the gate. The bus (RideKC Route 47) stops outside the gates if you'd rather not drive.

AT&T Stadium (Cowboys, Arlington). The spectacle pick — the building is the show. Arlington is drive-first: there is no rail or city bus to the stadium, so the guide's advice is to give yourself far more time than the drive suggests; traffic and lot entry are the slow part of the day.

The shared buildings double your chances. Two stadiums host two NFL teams each: MetLife Stadium (Giants and Jets) in New York, and SoFi Stadium (Rams and Chargers) in Los Angeles. On the right autumn weekend, one hotel puts two home games in reach — and in both metros the NBA and NHL are playing by November too.

The dates that anchor the season

Two fixtures belong to the calendar itself. Thanksgiving always means home games for the league's two traditional hosts, Detroit and Dallas — this year, Thursday November 26, 2026 brings Bears at Lions and Eagles at Cowboys, plus Packers at Rams in the night slot. Christmas Day has become a triple-header too: on December 25, 2026 our schedule shows Texans at Eagles, Bills at Broncos, and a rivalry game — Packers at Bears at Soldier Field.

The rest of the 2026 season in our data runs 151 more fixtures from November 5 through the regular-season finale on January 10, 2027. Playoff dates aren't in the data yet — they land here as they're set, and the NFL hub always shows what's next.

How to plan it

  1. Pick the stadium first, the opponent second. With so few home dates, the building is the trip.
  2. Open the team's page here for its remaining home fixtures and ticket links across seven marketplaces.
  3. Book the anchor game, then read the stadium's own guide on this site — every NFL stadium page covers getting there, where to stay, bag policy and game-day tips from the venue's own sources.
  4. Staying more than a night? Run the Trip Finder on the metro — fall and winter weekends often pair an NFL Sunday with NBA or NHL home games in the same city.

✈️ Open the Trip Finder

Tell it a region or hand-pick up to 6 teams — it finds the dates when they're all home.
