How the Trip Finder Works: Chain Games Into One Trip

Last updated November 2026 · Fixtures and counts pulled from this site's live schedules on November 4, 2026

The Trip Finder is the tool this whole site is built around. Give it teams — or a region — and it scans their home schedules for the date windows when they're all home, so two, three or four games chain into one trip instead of four separate ones. Here's exactly how it works, the nine classic routes it has already produced, and how to get a better window out of it.

How it works

  1. Pick teams or a region. Hand-pick up to six teams, or take a whole region — New York Metro, California, Texas, New England — or a spring training league.
  2. It scans the real schedules. Every fixture on this site comes from the same schedule data behind the team pages — 6,310 games across six leagues. A window is a run of days in which every picked team plays at home at least once.
  3. It shows windows, not wishes. If your teams are never all home together in the data, the Finder says so. It never papers over a gap with an away game or an invented date.
  4. You build out from the window. Each result links to the games, the venue guides and the stays — book the anchor game first, then the rest.

The nine classic routes it has already found

We pre-built the famous ones as classic road-trip pages — each shows its real window from the data, or says plainly when the fixtures don't line up yet:

Getting a better window

Questions fans ask

How many teams can I put in one search?

Up to six, hand-picked — or skip the picking and choose a region (New York Metro, California, Texas, New England and more) or a spring training league, and the Finder runs every team in it.

Why did the Finder show no window for my teams?

Because in the current schedule data, those teams are never all home inside the window length you set. Lengthen the window, drop a team, or widen the search to the whole region. If a window exists in the data, the Finder surfaces it; if it doesn't, it tells you plainly instead of inventing one — two of our nine classic routes below are in exactly that honest state right now.

What about games with no start time yet?

Hundreds of fixtures in the data have no published start time. They still count toward a window — the team is home that day either way — and the Finder shows the time as to be confirmed rather than guessing one.

Does it cover spring training?

Yes — the Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues are Finder regions of their own. Their 2027 fixtures haven't been released into our data yet, so for now those regions return plan-ahead guidance and the two spring guides below; the dates drop in as they're published.
