🚆 Getting to Busch Stadium
Ride MetroLink to Stadium Station: the Red and Blue Lines stop right next to Busch Stadium and Ballpark Village in downtown St. Louis.
Metro Transit St. Louis directs Cardinals fans to Stadium MetroLink Station, located right next to the ballpark, on both the Red Line (from Lambert Airport) and the Blue Line. Fans can park for free at any of the 21 Metro Park-Ride lots at MetroLink stations in Missouri and Illinois and ride in. More than a dozen MetroBus routes also serve the Civic Center Transit Center, about three blocks west of the ballpark.
The Cardinals sell game-day parking at official lots including the All-Star Lot and the One Cardinal Way Garage, with passes delivered digitally via the MLB Ballpark app and advance purchase recommended. Interstates 44, 55, 64 and 70 all converge downtown near the ballpark, and numerous other downtown garages and lots surround the stadium.
The rideshare pick-up zone is on the east side of the stadium on Broadway, just south of Spruce Street.
🛏️ Where to stay near Busch Stadium
Most visiting fans stay Downtown around Ballpark Village, where they can walk to the park and the Gateway Arch, with the Central West End as the main alternative a MetroLink ride west.
- Downtown / Ballpark Village — The game-day district itself: Ballpark Village's restaurants and bars sit directly across Clark Street from the gates, and the Gateway Arch is an easy walk away. Stay here and you will not need a car on game day.
- Central West End — A historic, dining-heavy neighborhood by Forest Park, about 4 miles west and served by MetroLink, whose Stadium Station ride is documented at about 20 minutes from the Central West End. A calmer base for a longer St. Louis weekend.
- Soulard — The city's famous bar district just southwest of the stadium, a short ride away. Some Soulard bars offer shuttles to the stadium for patrons, making it a lively pre- and post-game base.
🎟️ Game-day tips for Busch Stadium
Choose your seat for the Arch view and the shade together: the field opens to the northeast, framing the Gateway Arch beyond the outfield, and shade is scarce at early-afternoon games.
- Shade strategy flips by start time — For early-afternoon games, shade is limited and favors the first-base side and seats under overhangs, with outfield seats in sun most of the game. For evening games, the third-base side becomes the prime shaded side, with the setting sun at your back.
- The Arch is the backdrop — Busch Stadium was designed to frame the downtown skyline and the Gateway Arch beyond the outfield, one of the iconic views in baseball. The Arch grounds themselves are an easy walk from the stadium for before or after the game.
- Start in Ballpark Village — Ballpark Village, directly across Clark Street from the main entrance, holds the Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum inside Cardinals Nation plus multiple bars and restaurants. Arrive early, because it fills up well before first pitch.
Bags: Bags do not need to be clear, but soft-sided bags, purses and soft-sided coolers must not exceed 10" x 8" x 10", with exceptions made for medical bags and diaper bags with a child. Official policy.
