🚆 Getting to Daikin Park
Downtown fans can ride METRORail's Green or Purple Lines to Convention District Station, a short walk from the park, though driving to the many downtown lots is also easy.
Convention District Station is served by the METRORail Green and Purple Lines and serves both the George R. Brown Convention Center and Daikin Park. Red Line riders transfer at Central Station to a Green or Purple Line train for one stop to Convention District, or can walk about six blocks from Central Station. Game-day guides note the station is one block south of the ballpark.
The Astros operate official lots around the downtown ballpark, including the Diamond Lot (North and South, the closest official option), Lot A, Lot B, Lot C and Lot E, and all Astros parking lots are cashless with advance purchase recommended. Around 25,000 parking spaces are available within a short walk of the park across official and private lots and downtown garages.
🛏️ Where to stay near Daikin Park
Most visiting fans stay in Downtown Houston within walking distance of the park, with EaDo right next door and Midtown a short METRORail ride south.
- Downtown Houston — The park sits in the heart of downtown, walking distance from hotels along the Main Street corridor and the Theater District, plus the convention district by Discovery Green. The easiest base for walking to the game.
- EaDo (East Downtown) — The neighborhood at the park's edge, described as one of the city's most active emerging areas, with a bar scene within easy walking distance of the gates. A good pick for a younger, nightlife-led trip.
- Midtown — Just south of downtown on the METRORail Red Line, with stations such as Ensemble/HCC giving a ride north into downtown and a transfer at Central Station to the Green or Purple Lines for the ballpark. A local-feeling base of bars and restaurants.
🎟️ Game-day tips for Daikin Park
Do not sweat Houston's heat when picking seats: the retractable roof is closed for the vast majority of summer games, making the park fully air-conditioned with sun a non-factor.
- Roof closed means every seat is comfortable — Guides note the roof is closed for most home games from April through October because of Houston's heat and humidity, and when it is closed no seat faces sun exposure. When the roof does open, mainly for cooler early-spring or late-fall evenings, seats behind home plate and on the third-base side see the most shade.
- Sit in the Crawford Boxes once — The Crawford Boxes in left field, sections 100-104, sit just 315 feet from home plate — one of the shortest home-run porches in baseball — directly above the left-field wall. They are prime territory for catching a home run ball and watching the train pass overhead.
- Watch for the home-run train — A replica 19th-century locomotive runs along roughly 800 feet of track above the left-field wall after every Astros home run and win, a nod to historic Union Station, whose lobby is now the park's main entrance on Crawford Street. Enter through the Union Station lobby if you can.
Bags: Bags are permitted up to 16" x 16" x 8", but backpacks are not allowed, with exceptions for diaper bags, single-compartment drawstring bags and medical bags within the size limit. Official policy.
