🚆 Getting to Great American Ball Park
Ride the free Connector streetcar to Station 1 at The Banks — you will be steps from the stadium on its 3.6-mile loop linking the riverfront, downtown and Over-the-Rhine.
The City of Cincinnati describes the Connector as a free-to-ride streetcar on a 3.6-mile loop connecting the riverfront at The Banks, Downtown and Over-the-Rhine, and Visit Cincy calls it the best way to get to the stadium, getting off at Station 1 in The Banks. Cincinnati Metro buses also serve downtown within walking distance of the park.
Parking is centered on the Central Riverfront Garage, which sits directly beneath the stadium and The Banks district, with the East Garage to the east as the main alternative for fans arriving via Columbia Parkway or I-471. More garages and lots line 2nd Street and downtown, accessible parking is in the east section of the Central Riverfront Garage and in the East Garage, and Reds lots and garages open hours before first pitch with passes available in advance.
🛏️ Where to stay near Great American Ball Park
Most visiting fans stay downtown or right in The Banks and walk to the game — this is a true downtown riverfront park — with Over-the-Rhine and the Kentucky riverfront as the character options.
- Downtown Cincinnati / The Banks — The ballpark sits in The Banks entertainment district on the river, so downtown stays are a short walk to the gates with bars and restaurants in front of the park. The simplest, most walkable base in this set of parks.
- Over-the-Rhine — North of downtown on the free Connector loop, so the ride to Station 1 is direct. Cincinnati's historic brewery-era neighborhood, now its restaurant and bar district around Findlay Market.
- Covington & Newport, Kentucky — Just across the Ohio River, a short ride from the park — the Southbank Shuttle crosses the river and drops fans right near the stadium. A river-town feel with its own dining streets, and a walk over the Roebling bridge into downtown is part of the trip.
🎟️ Game-day tips for Great American Ball Park
Pick your seat for the river, not just the game — and on a day game, avoid the right-field Sun Deck unless you want full sun the whole way.
- The Power Stacks and the Sun/Moon Deck — The two smokestacks in right-center, a nod to Ohio River steamboats, shoot flames and fireworks on Reds home runs and strikeouts. The Sun Deck and Moon Deck beside them are prime home-run territory but offer zero shade on day games.
- Third base shades first — For afternoon games the third-base side gets shade first while the first-base line bakes, and club seats tucked under the upper-deck overhang are almost always shaded. Upper levels also open up views of the Ohio River and the Kentucky hills beyond the outfield.
- Arrive via Crosley Terrace and the Hall of Fame — The main entrance runs through Crosley Terrace, with statues of Reds greats posed on a mini diamond, and the Reds Hall of Fame & Museum sits on the west side of the park by the home-plate entrance. Both are worth arriving early for, before The Banks fills up.
Bags: Bags must not exceed 16 x 16 x 8 inches, and no backpacks are permitted unless they are for medical or nursing needs. Official policy.
