🚆 Getting to Nationals Park
Take Metro's Green Line to Navy Yard-Ballpark station — it exits at Half Street, about a block from the center-field gate, and is the easiest way to Nationals Park.
The Navy Yard-Ballpark station on the Green Line is directly adjacent to the stadium, with entrances on M Street at Half Street and New Jersey Avenue, and the Half Street exit leads to the center-field gates. The Capitol South station on the Blue, Orange and Silver lines is also within walking distance. Metrobus and the DC Circulator from Union Station also serve the park.
Drivers can reach the park via I-395 and South Capitol Street, or via the I-495 Capital Beltway and converging highways including I-695, I-66, I-270 and I-295. Official parking is in the GEICO Garage, Garage C and H and Lots M, T, U and W, all cashless with passes offered ahead of game day through the team, and tailgating is not permitted in any Nationals Park garage or lot.
There is a specific rideshare location for Uber and Lyft riders on the west curb of New Jersey Avenue between M and N streets.
🛏️ Where to stay near Nationals Park
Most visiting fans base themselves in Navy Yard itself for a walk-to-the-game stay, or in Capitol Hill and downtown for a classic D.C. sightseeing base a short Metro ride away.
- Navy Yard / Capitol Riverfront — The ballpark's own neighborhood along the Anacostia River, with the Half Street sports-bar corridor and Yards Park waterfront right outside the gates. Staying here means walking to the game and using the Navy Yard-Ballpark station for the rest of the city.
- Capitol Hill — The residential neighborhood just north of the park, a separate area across the freeway from Navy Yard. Its Capitol South Metro station on the Blue, Orange and Silver lines is within walking distance of Nationals Park.
- Downtown / National Mall area — A short Metro ride away via the Green Line, this base puts the National Mall and the Smithsonian museums at the center of your trip. It suits visitors combining a game with classic D.C. sightseeing.
🎟️ Game-day tips for Nationals Park
Head to the upper decks on the first-base side for the park's signature view — the Capitol and the Washington Monument over the outfield.
- Chase the Capitol view — On clear days the U.S. Capitol dome is visible over the left-field stands, and fans can take in views of the Washington Monument and the Capitol building from the upper decks on the first-base side. It is one of the more striking ballpark views in baseball.
- Don't leave your seat in the fourth inning — The Presidents Race is Nationals Park's longest-running tradition: costumed George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt race around the field in the middle of the fourth inning. Plan any concourse run for before or after it.
- Make Center Field Plaza your meeting point — Center Field Plaza is the park's main gathering spot before and during games, home to the Change-Up Food Hall. Ben's Chili Bowl, the iconic D.C. institution, has locations inside the park in sections 110, 141 and 307.
